EUREOS library Objectives

Objectives

Completing this course will allow attendants:

  1. To know the current prevalence and incidence rates of EoE and its evolutionary trends over the years in different setting and patient’s ages. In addition, to identifying potential risk factors after the spread of the disease.
  2. To recognize the different symptoms with which eosinophilic esophagitis occurs in patients of different age groups. To know the most characteristic endoscopic findings, and understand the recent concept of phenotypes and endotypes of the disease
  3. Recognize eosinophilic esophagitis as an allergic manifestation. Identify the clinical and epidemiological similarities with other atopies related to type 2 inflammation. Understand the relevant role of the allergist in the evaluation and comprehensive management of the patient with EoE.
  4. Know how to diagnose eosinophilic esophagitis, knowing the performance of the different tests currently available, as well as research developments based on minimally invasive procedures
  5. Understand the current treatment algorithm for EoE, the available therapeutic options, their effectiveness and safety. Recognize the limitations of current strategies and the opportunities to develop new drugs, as well as review the main future treatments in development
  6. Understand the concept of dietary treatment for EoE as the option directed at the origin of the disease. Know the different approaches based on diets, their effectiveness and application. Know the most important factors for the selection of candidates for dietary treatment and the strategies to maximize the success of the therapy
  7. Recognize the physical and emotional consequences that EoE, as a chronic disease, determines. Identify patients at risk and learn about nutritional rehabilitation strategies and their multidisciplinary approach.
